I hate Facebook. I love Facebook. One word…Facebook, (which should be two if English mattered anymore), that sums up both the miraculous, ray beams of connectivity and the fermented, darkness of evil separation. Ok, I know I totally went dramatic but I got to use “fermented darkness!”
On one hand it connects us to an amazing level, sharing present and past photos, highlighting events, and giving thank god moments when reminding us of birthdays. On the other hand, with so much information available, we do not call our friends, family, and peers – we just like their stuff and leave a comment.
So, even while we are connected to them, are we really? The big stuff is missing…starting with a hug or handshake. Next, what is the actual context of their moods and body language? On Facebook we are only seeing a “Snapchat” of their life and as a population we are getting accustomed to this mentality.
In real estate, we have this problem as well with companies like Zillow, Trulia, and Redfin. They know the topmost layer of information because we give them our content for consumer use, but they often miss the big stuff. What is the real deal with that home? Is the neighborhood moving up or down in desirability? What future expansion plans may impact traffic, school boundaries, and so on?
Just like Facebook, you don’t see the whole picture on Zillow, etc . You aren’t just buying or selling for today, but for your family’s tomorrow and financial future. Expertise in your family’s and friend’s life really matters if you want a true relationship. And expertise in real estate and the community is vital if you want to make the very best long-term decision. I encourage you to use Zillow, Redfin, or our website to learn as much as you can. Just also pick up the phone and let us help to ensure you, your friends, and family members make the best long term decision.
Our office also sends our thoughts and prayers to the people in Florida with that hurricane bearing down. We have many clients that have moved there or who have family there that we hope stay safe!
Sincerely,
Stefan aka Mr. Murrieta
